The Benefits of Acupuncture for Pets
Acupuncture is a therapy that has been in use for thousands of years. In recent times, acupuncture is being use to treat animals with chronic diseases and persistent pain or inflammation.
Acupuncture has roots in Chinese medicine, and involves inserting very small needles into the skin. This sounds painful, but when done correctly, the patient will feel very little as the needle enters the skin! The theory is that acupuncture stimulates blood flow to the affected area, which promotes healing. Acupuncture can also stimulate the release of endorphin and cortisol in the body, which can help improve mood.
There are certain vets who specialise in acupuncture for animals, so if you wish to get acupuncture sessions for your pet, please ensure that the person is qualified to do so!
